“The Adventuress is a 133-foot gaff-rigged schooner. Developed at the Rice Brother’s Boatyard, in East Boothbay, Maine as a personal yacht, the ship was introduced in 1913. Her proprietor, John Borden II, the founder of Chicago’s Yellow Cab Co. sailed The Adventuress from Maine, all around the idea of South The united states, and north to the Arctic. Borden supposed to sail to Alaska to catch a bowhead whale for the American Museum of Normal Background in New York. Borden’s initiatives to catch a whale unsuccessful and he bought Adventuress to the San Francisco Bar Pilots Affiliation, which marked the starting of her career as a workboat. For 35 years, she transferred pilots to and from cargo vessels in the vicinity of the Farallone Islands. All through Entire world War II, she was a United States Coastline Guard vessel, guarding San Francisco Bay”
Close to 1952, Adventuress was brought to Seattle, the place she went by way of numerous owners.
